HighGround is a young charity, formed to assist in the transition from military to civilian life with a vision to be the leading organisation for the provision of land-based opportunities for all ex-military personnel and Reservists.

HighGround provides the Horticultural Therapy service for patients of the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court in Surrey, is the specialist provider of land-based employment information for the Officers Association and is currently working with the Career Transition Partnership to provide a similar service to Service Leavers during their resettlement programmes.

CITA have supported HighGround at various stages in their development. In August 2016 Highground applied for a Tech Surgery looking for help to teach staff how to use Sharepoint. Then in November the CEO, having received some pro-bono marketing consultancy, sought help to implement the recommendations of that work. Through CITA’s IT Consultancy service a CITA volunteer helped to further develop the specification of work, and searched for pro-bono volunteers to make the necessary changes to the HighGround website to enable better conversion of website traffic. Later the CITA volunteer helped draw up a spec for a new Trustee who would be able to support the charity as they worked to develop an IT and digital strategy.
Anna Baker Cresswell the Charity’s Founder said
“CITA’s support has made a massive difference – as a young charity with ambitious fundraising targets and thanks to our work at Headley Court a profile within the Ministry of Defence, it is critical that we communicate our message to our funders and supports whilst growing our profile and our governance infrastructure in parallel.
The timely, impartial and professional advice I have received from CITA has been absolutely invaluable and I cannot thank them enough.
HighGround punches above its weight and knowing that we can count on CITA when we need professional advice about IT, an area we know so little about, saves us time and ensures our precious resources are directed wisely.”
