Policy Centre for African Peoples

The Policy Centre for African Peoples (PCAP) was founded in the United Kingdom in 2008 by a group of African Diaspora members led by Sylvie Aboa-Bradwell. PCAP works to provide a platform for the engagement and education of African individuals and key stakeholders on topics that are of relevance to African peoples in the UK, Africa and elsewhere. These topics include, but are not restricted to, African development, social justice, democracy, and education.

The charity needed a new website and applied for CITA’s IT Project Delivery service. CITA volunteer, John Coleman, developed a new WordPress website, liaising with PCAP Director Sylvie to ensure that the new site met all the needs of the charity.

Sylvie Aboa-Bradwell, Director, The Policy Centre for African Peoples reported, “We are thrilled that thanks to John’s input, we now have a more up-to-date and attractive website. Furthermore, we are delighted to be rid of the overwhelming flow of junk messages we were receiving from the spammers and hackers that had infiltrated our old website.

The service, delivered to us free of charge through a series of phone calls, was highly accessible, easy to understand, and very beneficial. John’s insightful explanations helped us master all the relevant technical details extremely quickly, and we are now confident that we have a better platform for the engagement and education of our charity’s service users.”

To ensure that the charity would be able to make excellent use of the new site John also produced a Functional Requirements and Design Specification document and a new Website Content/Editor’s User Guide for The Policy Centre for African Peoples.

“We are very grateful to CITA for providing us with an outstanding and very helpful IT volunteer. All our problems were solved very promptly, and we received many suggestions that will prove extremely useful in the future” Sylvie Aboa-Bradwell, Director, The Policy Centre for African Peoples.
